Section V Repeats!

McQuaid (Div 1) and Victor (Div 2) both swept to repeat as state champions. Section V is the home to the only NYSPHSAA Boys Volleyball Champions. 2011 was the second year of the official state tournament.

Victor defeated Eastport-South Manor in three games (25-16, 25-18, 25-16). Representing Victor on the all-state tournament team were Erik Dechow, Chris Mahan, and Erik Griffin. Matt Delong was named the 2011 MVP, after his 33 assist performance. Victor finishes the season at 21-1.

McQuaid was 5-1 in pool play, and carried that momentum into the Division 1 finals against Massapeaqua. They won in 3 games (25-18, 25-19, 25-21). AJ Logosh, Mike Desino, and Christy Blough were named to the all-state tournament team. UCLA bound Steve O`Dell was named MVP of the tournament, finishing with 11 kills, 2 blocks, and 2 aces. McQuaid Jesuit wraps up the season at a perfect 21-0.

The NYSPHSAA Boys Volleyball Championships are November 19th, at Cicero North Syracuse.

10AM - McQuaid vs. Oswego 2-0 (25-17, 25-16)
11AM - McQuaid vs. Massapequa 1-1 (25-15, 25-27)
12PM - McQuaid vs. Bethlehem 2-0 (28-26, 25-16)
4PM - McQuaid vs. Massapequa Div 1 State Finals 3-0 (25-18, 25-19, 25-21)

Division 2: Finals
2PM- Victor vs. Eastport-South Manor 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-16)

Playoff Schedule/Results

#1 McQuaid defeated #3 Fairport in three sets (25-13, 25-16, 25-21) and Class BB Victor overpowered Class B Midlakes (25-11, 25-18, 25-16) Thursday night at Webster Schroeder.

McQuaid and Victor will represent Section V in the NYS Far West Regionals Saturday afternoon at Webster. Victor will play Section VI Class B representative, Lake Shore, at 1PM. Following, McQuaid will face Class A Frontier at 3PM.

Tickets to these matches will be $5. The winners will represent our region at the State Championships, November 19, at Cicero North Syracuse.
